Flutter flies

Butterfly park - Bannerghatta Zoological Park

Malabar banded Swallowtail

Crimson Rose

Love is in the air!

This shoot started more as a test of my camera's macro capabilities. I think FIGO did reasonably well. I still cant identify all these beautiful creatures by name. However, I promise myself to learn about the different species and tag them here. These creatures are REALLY jittery... fluttering every micro second.. No wonder then that they are called butter flies :)

  2. Neat Pictures. A couple of things:

    1. The untagged butterfly is the the Lime Butterfly.

    2. The butterfly tagged as the 'Malabar Banded Swallowtail' is the 'Common Mormon'. The banded swallowtail has bands or white markings at the tip of the tail which this one doesnt. You could get this confirmed, anyway.

    3. The crimson rose wing pattern too looks a little different from the normal. Could be a variation. Is there any information at the park?

Very crisp and nice pics! Hows the park?
